Melissa Holzberger

Melissa Holzberger, Commercial Lawyer, is a specialist in energy, resources and nuclear law. Melissa is currently the legal adviser to a number of major multinational and Australian companies operating within the energy and resources sector. In addition to advising on energy and resources law matters, she advises on all aspects of commercial law, corporate governance, compliance and risk management.

Prior to founding Sloan Holzberger Lawyers, Melissa held positions as Legal Counsel at BHP Billiton within Australia and Rio Tinto at their London headquarters; worked for a large Australian commercial law firm; and was an Associate to a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia.

In her previous role as Legal Counsel at BHP Billiton, Melissa advised the company’s petroleum, coal seam gas, base metals, coal, manganese and uranium businesses. She advised extensively on the international and national regulation of the company’s projects, operations, logistics and trade.

In addition to her Australian law degree, Melissa has international experience and postgraduate qualifications – a Masters in Resources Law and Policy as a Chevening scholar from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy, University of Dundee in Scotland; and a Diploma in International Nuclear Law as an OECD Nuclear Energy Agency scholar from the University of Montpellier in France.
