Steven Walker QC is a leading advocate, barrister and attorney. He is an international commercial lawyer with a specialisation in international arbitration, energy, commercial disputes, construction and engineering.
Steven is based in South East Asia, works internationally and maintains a regular presence in energy disputes in South-East Asia, Europe, Africa and the Persian Gulf.

Steven started his career as a solicitor in 1997. He called to the Scottish Bar in 1999, to the Cayman Islands Bar in 2007 and to the English Bar in 2008. He has been an accredited Mediator since 2003 and became an accredited arbitrator in 2011. He was appointed an ad hoc Advocate Depute in 2007 (criminal court prosecutor) by the Lord Advocate (Head of the Scottish Prosecution Service) and has prosecuted serious offences for the Crown including attempted murder and armed robbery. Steven also held a public appointment from the Scottish Government to sit as a Tribunal Judge.
He was made an Honorary Fellow of the University of Edinburgh in 2009, an Honorary Lecturer of the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law & Policy, University of Dundee in 2008 and appointed Seminar Director & Lecturer on the Professional Seminar Training Programme of the Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore 2014. He lectures frequently on energy disputes, law and policy all over the world. Steven is co-author of the leading international book ‘Pleading in Arbitration – A Practitioner’s Guide’ published by Sweet & Maxwell/Thomson Reuters 2012. A second edition is due for release in 2016.
Fayyaz Qureshi LL.M (Petroleum Law & Policy), LL.B (Shari’ah & Law), B.A, P.G.Dip.ICA, is based in Belfast is an expert in Sharia law with a vast experience in petroleum and commercial law. He is associated with a leading international firm of advocates and legal consultants based in Pakistan and having associates in the Middle East. He has dealt with cases of a high profile and value and is admitted to the Pakistan High Court Bar. He has advised, negotiated and prepared contracts and accompanying documentation for the petroleum, power generation, telecommunication, construction, information technology, banking, intellectual property, engineering, project finance, and the commercial arbitration sectors.
Mr. Qureshi is multilingual and has had a multi disciplinary education and training. He completed his masters in Petroleum Law and Policy under scholarship from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum & Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP) University of Dundee, UK. His first law degree was obtained from the prestigious International Islamic University, Islamabad, for which he gained the gold medal for outstanding academic achievement.
Having a broad based commercial law background that encompasses both Islamic and secular law, he has represented and advised multi national companies and has assisted in the drafting of commercial agreements that complied with the requirements of the
Islamic Shari’ah law - for instance, in the case of motor vehicle leasing and finance. He has also drafted and vetted a wide range of commercial contracts for oil, gas and construction projects enforcing government regulations, corporate compliance standards and contractual obligations.
As a Member of the Expert Legal Committee of Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association (PPEPCA) in July 2000 to May 2001, Mr. Qureshi reviewed and re-drafted the Petroleum Exploration and Production rules (on-shore and off-shore), Model Petroleum Concession Agreement, Joint Venture Agreement and the ordinance for establishing the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority. Furthermore he has advised on various issues pertaining to the petroleum sector of Pakistan.
Mr. Qureshi is experienced in international commercial arbitration where he has been involved with various arbitration issues relating to commercial disputes, in particular, construction disputes involving substantial amounts in respect of motorway and highway projects in Pakistan. He has assisted in various international commercial arbitrations before arbitral authorities such as the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), for instance, in the case of construction and investment treaty infringement.
